HOW TO FIND THE BEST COSMETIC DENTIST FOR DENTAL TOURISM

Cosmetic Dentistry is not a recognized dental specialty according to the American Dental Association...

Patients cannot find genuine Board Certified cosmetic dentists in the US - but they exist..

In the US - cosmetic dentistry is not an American Dental Association (ADA) recognized specialty and any dentist can purchase a dental whitening machine, double their prices overnight and legally call themselves a Cosmetic Dentist Specialist. Some join the various associations of cosmetic dentists in the US and hang their membership certificate on their salon wall for added credibility.

The fact is - anyone can join some of these cosmetic dentist associations so long as they pay the membership fees.  Dental students, dental lab technicians, dental suppliers, general dentists and even the 3 Stooges would be welcome.

Consumer protection laws in the US have not caught on to the cosmetic dentistry gimmick that many general dentists in the US use to promote themselves with.  How can they be charged with misrepresentation when cosmetic dentistry as a specialist field does not exist in the eyes of the American Dental Association?

But cosmetic dentistry is recognized as a specialty in other countries.

To become a certified cosmetic dentist In Mexico, one has to attend a dental specialist college for another 2 years beyond the 4 years of basic dental college (and 1 year public service in a government clinic) to become a Certified Cosmetic Dentist.

True cosmetic dentistry can involve dental implantology, periodontics, endondontics and other fields with an emphasis on aesthetics as well as functionality.

In the USA a general dentist is not permitted to perform implants or crowns unless they have graduated from the appropriate dental specialist school. But they can (and do) call themselves cosmetic dentists because the specialty field according to the ADA doesn't exist.

Board Certification comes after graduating from dental specialist college and taking the Board exams - written, lab demonstrative and oral. Only 1% of dentists in Mexico are board certified.

They are the best of the best and the ones you want when you take a dental vacation.

But if you want a board certified cosmetic dentist - you have to go to  Mexico or elsewhere they are formally trained in the field and boards exist to certify them.

You don't have to be satisfied with 2nd best when going abroad for advanced dentistry. Best of all, board certified dentists often cost the same as far-less trained general dentists in Mexico.

Board Certified Dentists Internationale CD(is the newly combined Board Certified Mexico Dentist Association and it's Asian counterpart association. CDI provides referrals, estimates and dental travel information without cost to patients and features top certified dentists in Mexico, Asia and Europe.
